my 2 cents about: Le cronache del ghiaccio e del fuoco e la mondadori / A song of ice and fire and mondadori

Per chi non conoscesse le cronache del ghiaccio e del fuoco (vergogna, vergogna!), si tratta di una meravigliosa saga fantasy. L'elemento fantasy non è molto marcato e l'ambietazione non mi farebbe impazzire se non fosse che in questi libri c'è qualcosa in più. Una miriade di personaggi, ognuno col suo punto di vista, che lotta per i propri interessi, alcuni sono buoni, altri meno, altri sono degli stronzi allucinanti ma, in qualche modo, leggendo riesci ad affezionarti a tutti loro, finchè non arrivi al punto in cui fai il tifo un po' per tutti e vorresti che tutto si risolvesse per il meglio. E invece no. C'è sempre un imprevisto dietro l'angolo pronto a sorprenderti, può darsi che il tuo preferito domani non abbia più la testa sul collo e tu rimani lì, meravigliata, realizzi che non hai davvero idea di cosa accadrà e vuoi sapere come andrà a finire.

E qui arriva la brutta notizia. La saga non è ancora completa, siamo a quota 5 di 7 volumi.

E qui arriva la PESSIMA notizia. I 5 volumi in Italia sono diventati 12. DODICI! Non so se ci rendiamo conto. Quasi due volte e mezzo i libri usciti in America.

Di questi dodici, tre, traduzione dell'ultimo libro, da poco pubblicato in inglese, devono ancora uscire e lo faranno piano piano, uno ogni 6-12 mesi, alla modica cifra di circa 20 euro l'uno. Quello che mi chiedo è com'è possibile che noi si arrivi a pagare circa SESSANTA euro per UN libro quando su amazon vendono il cofanetto coi primi 4 volumi inglesi (l'equivalente di 9 dei nostri) a meno di 20 dollari (14 euro)?

Che amori i signori della mondadori, che amori!

Avrei tanta, ma tanta voglia di provare a leggerli in inglese. Ma non mi va di comprare un libro che forse non sarei in grado di leggere.

Voglio un maledetto ebook reader, ma costano troppo! >.<

I'm getting angry.

For those who didn't know a song of ice and fire (shame on you!), I'm talking about a wonderful fantasy book series. The fantasy element isn't very pronounced and the backgound wouldn't thrill me if it wasn't for something else i found in these books. A myriad characters, each one with its own point of view, struggling for their own interests, some are good, some are not, some are shocking assholes but, somehow, while reading you get attched to them all, until you root for all of them and hope it all will end for the best. But that's not what will happen. There's always something unexpected behind the corner ready to take you by surprise, tomorrow your favourite may lose his head. And you hang there, astonished, realize that you really don't know what is going to happen and you want to know how it will turn out.

And now comes the bad news. The series is not yet complete, we're at 5 of 7 books.

And now comes the AWFUL news. The 5 books became 12 in Italy. TWELVE! Did I get it across? Almost twice and a half the books published in America.

Of these twelve, three, translations of the last book, recently published in english, are not yet out. They will come out slowly, slowly, one each 6-12 months at the modest amount of 20 euros each. What I wonder is, how is it possible that we'll get to pay around SIXTY euros for ONE book when amazon sells the slipcase with the first 4 books (9 of ours) for less than 20 dollars (14 euros)?

How lovely they are at mondadori, how lovely!

I'd feel like tring to read them in english. But I don't want to buy a book I may not be able to read.

I want a damned ebook reader but it's too expensive! >.<
